Capitec Bank Brings Some Christmas Cheer
Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape: Christmas came early this year for the patients in the paediatric ward at Umlamli Hospital in Sterkspruit thanks to a donation of outdoor playground equipment by Capitec Bank’s Eastern Cape region.
Umlamli Hospital, which serves the areas around Aliwal North and Lady Grey, has a children’s ward for 3 patients, and a further 70 beds for adult patients. The new playground, which will be installed on December 3, will consist of a platform with shade cloth, a slide, cargo net, rung ladder, swings and wooden safety rails. A television set will also be donated by Capitec Bank to provide entertainment and access to educational programmes.
Speaking at the official donation ceremony at the hospital, Mandla Tyhulu, Regional Manager at Capitec Bank in the Eastern Cape, said: “Capitec Bank has been supporting communities in the Eastern Cape for several years. The aim of this donation is to improve people’s lives in the region and what a better time than doing so during the festive season? Being in hospital is not pleasant, especially for children and we hope the donation of the playground and TV will provide some entertainment for them while they recover.”
