Use cash to buy Capitec Connect airtime

You can now use cash to buy Capitec Connect airtime or data for yourself or someone else. You can buy from as little as R5, just look out for the Blu Approved or Kazang sign at local merchants.

How to recharge with a Capitec Connect top up voucher:

  1. Visit any Blu Approved merchant or Kazang Spaza shop and buy a Capitec Connect airtime voucher
  2. Dial *130*888* and enter your Capitec Connect top up voucher PIN (provided on the voucher) then press #
  3. The number used to do the recharge will receive the airtime for the full value of the voucher

  • Data: R4.50 per 100MB or R45 per 1GB

Get a Capitec Connect SIM

  • Get a Capitec Connect SIM in-branch. You must have or open a Global One account before you can get a Capitec Connect SIM card
  • You can get a new Capitec Connect number or switch to Capitec Connect – port and keep your existing cellphone number from another network
  • A once-off R10 SIM card fee will be deducted from your main transactional savings account
  • You can get up to 5 SIM cards for family. You will need to RICA each SIM card

For RICA purposes, you must have an existing Global One account. If you are not already a Capitec client, you’ll need to bring the following documents with you to open an account:

  • Original identification document
  • One of these documents (not older than 3 months) as proof of residence:
    • Bank statement or municipal account
    • Cellphone or retail account
    • Any document that’s issued monthly, and contains your name and residential address

Note: You can present a valid (and unaltered) document that has been emailed to you on a device as your proof of residence.

You can move and keep your existing number from another network. You can port your number when collecting your Capitec Connect SIM in-branch, or at any time by dialling 135 for free from your Capitec Connect SIM. Remember to convert existing contracts to prepaid first before you port.

To port in branch:

  1. We will need your ID number and the cellphone number you want to port
  2. The porting request is sent to the National Porting Company. This may take up to 48 hours to process. You’ll receive regular SMS updates on the progress

Note: Your current service provider may contact you to approve the request.

If your number isn’t used within a 6-month period, the SIM will be deactivated and the number recycled as per ICASA requirements.
