At the primary school in Durbanville, a fresh burst of colour now welcomes learners each day, thanks to the hands and hearts of our Properties team. On 31 January 2025, we wrapped up our journey with one last visit, ready to brighten the day.
Vissershok Primary School creates a safe, supportive space for the children from surrounding communities to learn and grow. As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, we helped paint the school and create a vibrant, inspiring environment.
Over the past few months, our Uplifters (Capitec volunteers) upgraded the computer room, added rubber mats to 3 classrooms, improved the assembly area and veggie garden, and painted several structures around the school.
The team carefully planned and worked to transform the school's appearance together with Voula Philippides, Team Leader: Properties and Elmarie Matthee, Team Leader: Project Coordination and Administration, who led the Retail campus CSI project. The Properties team also worked with suppliers – Yantek Industries, Claassen Shopfitting and Interconnect Systems – who provided materials at cost, some even offering their services for free. These collaborations allowed us to maximise the impact of our budget and accomplish even more for the learners of Vissershok Primary School.
With brushes in hand and smiles on their faces, our Uplifters painted classrooms, hallways and outdoor areas in bright, cheerful colours. The goal was to create a space that excites learners to come to school and inspires them to do their best.
As our CSI Manager, Craig Williams, shared, “The Vissershok project was more than just a painting job – it is a testament to our commitment to social responsibility and community development. By investing time, resources and expertise, the team has made a significant difference in the lives of the learners and employees at the school, making it a truly collaborative experience.”
