We're Africa's fastest-growing brand

We’re growing fast: nearly doubling our brand value to $1.1 billion and increasing our app base by 21% year-on-year.

We’ve done it again. Brand Finance has awarded us Africa’s fastest-growing brand by brand value in the 2025 Brand Finance Africa 200 report – increasing our brand value by 99.9% to $1.1 billion in just one year. That’s a jump from 28th to 14th place – and a powerful sign that when you put your clients first, growth follows.

We’re also proud to be recognised as Africa’s strongest banking brand, with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 94.6 out of 100 and an AAA+ rating.

A big thank you to all our clients and employees for banking on us – we couldn’t do any of this without you.

How we got there

Brand Finance credits our growth to:

  • 21% app user growth (August 2023 – August 2024)
  • 9% increase in brand (2024 – 2025)
  • Stronger profitability across our product lines
  • New offerings, including business banking and insurance
  • Consistent brand equity growth
  • Perfect scores for brand metrics like ‘brand I love’, ‘brand consideration’ and ‘brand engagement’

We’ve evolved from a challenger bank to the bank of choice for a diverse and digitally savvy South African market – all while staying true to our fundamentals of simplicity, affordability, accessibility and personal experience.

What is the Brand Finance Africa 200 report?

The Brand Finance Africa 200 report ranks the continent’s top 200 brands, measuring not just financial strength but how much people love, trust and recommend them.

In a ranking dominated by South Africa’s retail, telecoms and banking giants, it’s tough to stand out. But we’ve done it – not by shouting the loudest, but by staying consistent, doing the right thing and continually innovating.
