Scammers often pretend to be trusted brands online. They create fake online websites and publish fake reviews on these to steal your money or personal information.

Here’s how to protect yourself from online shopping scams:

• Stick to websites you know and trust
• Beware of websites that impersonate well-known brands. Don’t click on links in messages or ads. Instead, type the brand’s official website address in your browser

If shopping on a new website

• Always make sure the website is legit
• Do your own research online
• Check for independent reviews
• Search keywords like 'scam' and 'legit' together with the brand name
• Check if the website offers secure payment methods
• Read the return policy carefully

Keep your card info private

• Never share your card number, expiry date or 3-digit CVV or CVC (at the back of your card) with anyone
• Don’t let anyone use your card to shop online
