Watch out for fake crypto investments

That flashy AI trading platform telling you to ‘invest now and make big money fast’ may be fake.

Fake AI and crypto platforms promise big returns, but their real goal is to steal your money. Stay sharp.

How scammers trick you to invest

You’re scrolling TikTok and see a video promising quick, easy money through AI-driven investments. Curious, you tap on the link and join the investment group on Telegram for more info. The 'proof of payout' screenshots from other investors on the group make it seem legit, so you decide to go for it. You invest and watch your balance grow instantly. Feels like a win – until you try to withdraw. That’s when the truth hits: the platform is fake, and your money is gone.

Red flags to watch out for

  • They promise you high returns fast, with little to no risk
  • The ads use buzzwords like 'AI' or 'crypto' and are shown on Telegram, TikTok or WhatsApp instead of through official regulated platforms
  • They pressure you to join now with an urgent or limited offer
  • The investment product or company (or adviser) has no FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority) registration
  • They tell you exactly what to say to your bank if questioned about why you're making the investment payment – if you need a script, it's a scam
  • They ask you to recruit others
