Which areas does the service cover?

The service will move the deceased if the place of death is 50 kilometres or more from the burial site. It covers moving the body from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, or Mozambique to a funeral home in South Africa.

What else does the service include? The service includes transport and overnight accommodation for one family member who will accompany the remains of your loved one.

Included in your Capitec Funeral Plan

• Transport for the deceased to the funeral home
• Transport for one relative from the funeral home to the place of burial
• Bed and breakfast lodging for one family member for one night
• Legal support for funeral arrangements
• Obtaining the death certificate
• Arranging burial or cremation. Related costs are for your own account.
• Referral to relevant supporting professionals for your own use (pathologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, counsellor)

Note:

• The service is arranged by Capitec for the policyholder and provided by a third party
• The costs of using this service are for the account of the policyholder
• Capitec will not be held accountable for losses, damages or expenses arising from using the service

How to claim this benefit

Access to funeral support is available through FMS (a Capitec-approved service provider). Call us on 0860 77 75 54, log your request on our app or WhatsApp us on 067 418 9565. FMS will then contact you.

When requesting this service, you must have the following ready:

• Your name, address, and contact number
• Your policy number or ID number
• The name and ID number of the deceased and the address of the place of death
