What is international Travel Insurance?

International Travel Insurance covers any unexpected medical expenses while you’re travelling abroad. It also provides some benefits if your trip is delayed. If you’re 85 years old or younger, and you pay for your return flight with our Credit Card, you’ll receive free Travel Insurance. If you need more comprehensive cover, you can top-up at your own cost.

What does our Travel Insurance cover?

• Free cover: Get emergency medical and related expenses cover for injury or illness of up to R5 million that will be supplied to you by Santam
• Comprehensive top-up cover: Boost your cover by adding protection for trip cancellations, travel delays, lost or stolen belongings, accidental death and accidental permanent disability cover. You can arrange this separately by visiting this link or by contacting the Santam Travel Insurance call centre. They will give you a quotation for the extra premium and will collect the payment from you

Conditions for cover

• You must pay for your departure and return ticket in full with our Credit Card before your journey starts
• You must be under 85 years of age
• Your trip must be shorter than 92 days
• Your journey must begin and end in South Africa
• You must be a permanent resident of South Africa

Notes

• International Travel Insurance does not cover domestic travel, even if you purchase and pay with your Credit Card
• International travel insurance is not available on our Debit Cards
• The insurance only covers you and your immediate family

How to activate your Travel Insurance

Your free cover is active as soon as you buy your return ticket using our Credit Card. If you want to get your policy document or want to add top-up comprehensive cover, you can contact the Santam call centre Monday to Friday from 8am – 4.30pm:

How to claim Travel Insurance

• You or Emergency Assistance should contact Santam directly
• The claim will be lodged
• The relevant documentation will be supplied to Santam
