Important: Eskom update needed for prepaid meters

Eskom is introducing a new series of vending codes to keep prepaid meters active. You need to update your meter by 24 November to avoid interruptions to your electricity supply.

If your meter is not updated, it will stop accepting new tokens, and you won’t be able to top up your electricity.

To check if your meter needs an update:

  1. Enter the code 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416 on your prepaid meter’s keypad
  2. If the screen shows 1, your meter needs to be updated 

Updating your meter is easy:

  1. Buy electricity on our app
  2. Enter key change token 1 (and wait for it to be accepted)
  3. Enter key change token 2 (and wait for it to be accepted)
  4. Enter the electricity purchase token

Once you’ve completed these steps, your meter will be fully updated and ready to accept new tokens.

Buy airtime, data or SMS bundles

Recharge on our app, here’s how:

  1. Tap Transact
  2. Tap Buy Prepaid mobile
  3. Choose or add a beneficiary
  4. Choose product type and amount
  5. Tap Buy

Add a beneficiary to buy for someone else:

  1. Tap Transact
  2. Tap Buy Prepaid mobile
  3. Tap Add beneficiary
  4. Enter the beneficiary’s name and cellphone number
  5. Choose a network
  6. Tap Add
  7. Enter your Remote PIN to confirm


Dial *120*3279# to recharge:

  1. Choose Buy
  2. Choose Airtime, Data Bundle or SMS Bundle
  3. Select ‘From’ account
  4. Select network provider
  5. Select validity period / Select category / Select bundle period
  6. Reply 1 for your own number or enter a cellphone number to buy for someone else
  7. Enter your Mobile Banking PIN to confirm
 

Buy electricity

Use our app, here’s how:

  1. Tap Transact
  2. Tap Buy Electricity
  3. Tap beneficiary
  4. Enter purchase amount
  5. Tap Buy

Add a beneficiary to buy for someone else:

  1. Tap Transact
  2. Tap Buy Electricity
  3. Add beneficiary: enter name, meter number, cellphone number
  4. Tap Add
  5. Enter your Remote PIN and confirm
  6. TapBuy Now  

Note: You can now share an electricity token directly from our app using your favourite messaging platform (e.g. WhatsApp). You can also tap View History to see previous tokens bought for a beneficiary on the app.

Dial *120*3279# to buy electricity for yourself or someone else:

  1. Choose Buy
  2. Choose Electricity
  3. Select ‘From’ account
  4. Enter purchase amount or select amount from list
  5. Enter electricity meter number
  6. Enter your Mobile Banking PIN to confirm

Note: You will be able to see electricity tokens you’ve bought previously; however, you won’t be able to share the history using *120*3279#.
