This is why the News24 Bank of the Year Award feels like a collective win, because it represents what happens when we put our clients at the top of our priority list.
This year’s award is based on a survey of more than 13 000 News24 readers about their experience with their primary bank, a meaningful reflection of real client perception.

News24 Business Awards explained

The News24 Business Awards celebrate companies and brands that aren't just delivering strong performance, but are also redefining excellence in client experience, communication and contribution to South Africa's growth.

Judging for the News24 Business Awards follows a multi layered assessment process:

  • Reader and subscriber insights: News24 subscribers and readers were surveyed about their experiences with insurers, banks and medical schemes - with a focus on satisfaction related to costs, client service and claims
  • Financial journalism assessment: The News24 financial reporting team evaluated each company's platforms, products, transparency in communication and overall contribution to South Africa
  • Expert and analyst review: News24 business journalists, together with industry experts and analysts, assessed strategy, shareholder value and business performance

  • Long-term Insurer of the Year
  • Short-term Insurer of the Year

How we became Bank of the Year again

Our clients rated us highly for our communication and digital banking experience – clear proof that simple, affordable and accessible banking continues to make an impact where it matters most. 

In the News24 reader survey, more than 93% of our participating clients gave us a rating of either 4 or 5 out of 5 for client service and communication.

The survey also found that more than 9 out of 10 participants would recommend us to friends and family – a testament to trust at scale.

We were also acknowledged for our innovation, strategy execution and shareholder value, showing our ability to scale while staying deeply connected to the needs of Mzansi.

With 25 million clients, our national footprint gives us the scale to shape the industry and help drive real progress.
